Using the Scissors Cont.
In continuing to enhance their fine motor skills, during this activity the children used a pair of scissors to cut a piece of cardboard. The cardboard involved a drawing of a spider and a thread hanging down from it.
You can try a similar activity at home, by providing a simple template for the children to follow using the scissors. It is advised that they are accompanied by adults to be safe.
Threading
During this activity, the children were able to enhance their fine motor skills while pretending to thread their own web.

Becoming Superheroes
Following the Superheroes theme, the children and I worked on creating resources that are associated with superheroes. These resources include masks and shields.
The children commented on how masks help superheroes to “hide their real face”, while the shields “protect superheroes from the bad men”. Below you can find the children’s creations where they showed their creativity and imagination!
The Birthday Party
The day had arrived when we planned a big birthday party to celebrate all of our birthdays and even the superheroes! (As they are the children’s favourite characters).
During the party, we first played some games and sang songs.
Then we ate the food we had prepared. All of the food, especially the cupcakes were delicious. The children kept commenting on how the food looked different as it had food-colouring on it.
Preparing for the Birthday Party
To celebrate the closure of the birthday theme, the children and I decided to have a birthday party. In organising a party, we had to see what we were going to prepare. The children were excited to create some party hats and paper plates to use during the party.
The children also wanted to prepare some food to eat during the party. We researched for recipes to bake cupcakes and other food which are known as party food. The children wanted to decorate their food as well so we used food-colouring to make the food more colourful.
Balloon Painting
In continuing to develop our birthday theme and exploring balloons, the children enjoyed carrying out this activity which consisted of them painting some balloons to decorate the classroom with.
The children also continued to expand this activity when they wanted to print paint on a piece of cardboard using the balloons. See below for pictures of their products.
Balloon Experiment
During this activity, the children were able to explore balloons and their scientific elements. While exploring, the children learned about static electricity and how balloons create this concept. When rubbing the balloon with their tops, one of the children had pressed the balloon too much and it burst. This made all of the children laugh as it was a surprise for them.
